Day thirteen of appeal procedure

nederlands

The 13th courtday of Peike’s higher appeal took place on May 9th. During the previous courtday, the Laufzettel was still missing from the file. (The Laufzettel is a document that contains all the information regarding an arrestee’s persona and procedure. The document accompanies them throughout the bureacratic process.) This courtday two new documents were added to the file, which seemed to make it possible to resume officer Beecken’s testimony. However, when the defense inquired about the typical content and style of a Laufzettel, it turned out the new documents that were added were in fact not Laufzettels. The SoKo Schwarzer Block (1) had simply sent two other documents concerning Peike from the GeSa (2). This was cause for several intermissions during which the judge tried to contact a Hamburg cop who would possibly be able to send the Laufzettel, so that the testimony concerning the Laufzettel could finally take place.

During an extensive break, the judge finally succeeded in reaching someone who was able to arrange for a scan of the Laufzettel to be present in court. When the defense inquired after several sections from this document, it was found that the witness Beecken had no recollection of most of the relevant issues. As such, she couldn’t account for the inconsistent information that had been written down. When the defense had no more questions, the hearing was closed. In the upcoming week, three more courtdays have been planned. Solidarity in the form of being present is direly needed!

(1) The SoKo Schwarzer Block is a specially formed group of cops who research all of the evidence concerning the “black bloc” during the G20-summit.
(2) The Gefangensammelstelle, a temporary cellcomplex in Hamburg that was built especially for the G20-summit.
